Brand Feature: Be Witchy
Katrina is an entrepreneur who needed photos to use across several businesses with similar vibes. As a Brand Strategist, she already had a great sense of what she wanted her vibe to be to help tie together her branding business, voice over work, and yoga teaching.
In our initial discussion, we talked about how Katrina wasn’t super comfortable in front of the camera and she wanted some extra support with wardrobe and styling to support her goals. Luckily, all of this is part of the LoveJoy process!
Brand Vibe
We decided on a dark, moody setting to represent Siren Branding’s vibe and Katrina’s natural witchy aesthetic. The brand colors are greens, dark greys, and pops of yellow, which just to happened to naturally exist in her living room and office already. Easy peasy!
Getting Ready
To get photos for each of her business ventures, we needed to be very intentional about planning props, locations, wardrobe, and overall timing.
Since Katrina’s home had several different looks while all being on brand, we started there. We decided on general photos (plus a dog) in the living room, yoga photos in the sunroom, and voice over and client experience photos in the office.
To add a little variety, we also opted to head outdoors for some beautiful photos with the Colorado mountains as backdrop.
For wardrobe, we discussed Katrina’s goals and clothing style, then landed on layered greens and blacks for the indoor photos, and a classic Colorado flannel for the outdoor photos. Katrina also wanted to get her hair and nails done, so she booked a blowout for the morning of our photoshoot and manicure for the day before.
Next stop, props! Having intentional props in brand photos can add personality, dimension, and give you something to do with your hands. We decided we would need Katrina’s dog, Elliot, to be in some of the photos, as well as the hexagonal audio panels in her office, her microphone, and her yoga mat. Throw in a cute, on-brand mug and we were good to go!
Photoshoot Day
As an introvert myself, I totally get how uncomfortable it can be in front of the camera. I knew Katrina had some less-than-awesome photography experiences in the past, so we made sure to keep the whole day relaxed and fun! Plus, it always helps to have a pup around.
After all, LoveJoy is all about LOVING the photos you get as well as enJOYing the process!
We started the day at home, did a few wardrobe changes, and captured headshots, lifestyle images, and stock image style photography. We then headed to the mountains to close out our photoshoot experience with ideal sunlight.
Final Results
I sent Katrina a few preview shots before the final delivery and was confident she was going to love the results. We ended up with beautiful, moody indoor photos and calming, natural outdoor photos that were perfect for her website, social media, and interviews.
